BACKGROUND CHECK COMPANY RELOCATES WITH LLOYDS BANK BACKING


uCheck, the Exeter-based employee background checking company, has relocated to new premises, supported by funding from Lloyds Bank.

The company is said to be England's second largest employee background checking company, performing more than 300,000 checks a year for clients in sectors including care and education.

It moved to larger customised offices on the Marsh Barton trading estate after achieving sales growth of 37 per cent last year, as well as growing staff numbers. uCheck now employs a workforce of 26 and has an annual turnover of £12.5m.

The funding package from Lloyds Bank has enabled the business to relocate from its original premises in Christow, where it had been based since 2002.

George Griffiths, director of operations at uCheck, said: "Increasingly, we're working with huge, national clients that employ thousands, and by 2020 I can see us employing up to 40 people to service demand.

"That means we can pitch for bigger, multi-national clients, offer new services – like tenant checks for landlords – and move towards our goal of becoming the number-one business in our sector."
