As eviction moratoriums wind down, the federal government and various state legislations have struggled with the next steps as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to take hold of the nation. Adam Almeida, CEO of Waltham, MA-based tenant screening solution recently released a statement articulating that accurately screening tenants will continue to be difficult going forward.

“Landlords and property managers should remain diligent with tenant screening policies, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, and working with a well-qualified third-party tenant screening agency, such as, remains a best practice to stay compliant with law,” said Almeida.

As the pandemic continues, the potential for ongoing confusion around evictions is expected to remain due to quickly changing laws and governance. In late July, congressional Democrats introduced legislation to address a blanket stay on evictions.
